Our organization is actively looking for full-time, committed OB Laborists. Opportunities are available for both Employed OB Laborists and Academic OB Laborists, with shifts of 12 or 24 hours at Miami Valley Hospital.
Employed OB Laborist

Will serve as the attending physician on call during specified hours for PPN patients.

Will oversee the entire patient care process, including OB admission, delivery, and postpartum requirements, without the primary physician's presence.

Will respond to emergencies as necessary, including performing Cesarean sections and other essential procedures on behalf of PPN providers.

Will triage all PPN OB patients, ensuring proper documentation and billing.

Will complete a thorough and accurate history and physical examination upon admission of PPN patients.

Will secure the necessary consent for patient care and treatment.

Will assess, treat, and stabilize PPN patients in the Emergency Department requiring urgent OB services.

Will comply with and promote established clinical guidelines for obstetric care.

Will evaluate and/or manage admitted patients in the inpatient OB or GYN services for PPN providers.

Will address postpartum floor issues (e.g., fever, postpartum hemorrhage) for PPN patients.
Academic OB Laborist
Our organization, in collaboration with Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine OB/GYN Department, is seeking an academically inclined OB Laborist to join the core faculty team. Responsibilities include:

Engaging in didactic teaching, journal clubs, clinical case discussions, and other educational assignments for residents and medical students, as directed by and in partnership with the department and BSOM’s academic leadership.

Contributing to the Department’s missions in clinical care, research, and education.

Participating in the education and supervision of medical students and residents in various settings, including OB admission, delivery, and postpartum care.
Qualifications for OB Laborist

Must be board-certified in OB/GYN, ideally with experience in a high-volume obstetrical practice.
