Position: LibrarianResponsible to: Elementary School PrincipalHours: 10-month employee, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Required Qualifications:

A deep faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and acceptance of the authority of Scriptures as a guide for faith and living

Actively pursues spiritual growth through personal devotions, Bible study, church involvement, etc.

Understand and actively support The Christ School mission, vision, and defining characteristics

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university

Proficiency in GoogleSuite (docs, sheets, gmail, calendar)

Highly effective verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of the job

Must be able to effectively traverse possibly uneven ground

Must be able to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs and transport about 10-15 pounds
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in education, library science, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience, preferably in an independent, Christian school.
General Responsibilities
Library Instruction & Elementary Specials
Teach engaging elementary library classes as part of the school’s special areas rotation, helping students develop a love of reading, foundational research skills, and responsible digital habits. Instruction includes guiding students in locating information, evaluating sources, and practicing age-appropriate digital citizenship.
Literacy Development
Cultivate a strong reading culture across the school by promoting high-quality literature, guiding book selection, and helping students discover books that inspire curiosity and joy in learning.
Middle School Elective
Teach middle school yearbook elective that develops student skills in writing, design, photography, and storytelling while producing the school’s annual yearbook.
Library Management
Manage and maintain the school library collection, including selecting new materials, organizing resources, maintaining catalog systems, and ensuring the library remains an inviting and well-organized learning environment.
Student Engagement
Create a welcoming space where students are encouraged to explore ideas, ask questions, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Support students in developing research skills, information literacy, and responsible technology use.
Collaborate with Colleagues
Partner with teachers to support classroom instruction through library resources, research support, and cross-curricular projects.
Partner with Parents
Encourage family engagement in literacy by communicating about reading opportunities, recommended books, and library programs.
Commit to Professional Growth
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development in literacy instruction, library science, research practices, and emerging educational resources.
Contribute to School Community
Actively participate in school events, initiatives, and extracurricular activities that strengthen the culture and community of The Christ School.
