AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Position Overview

The Quality Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of the hardware that powers our satellite constellation. This role is responsible for leading day-to-day quality operations across production and integration activities, ensuring materials, assemblies, and finished systems meet strict quality standards required for spaceflight.

The Quality Supervisor will lead a team of inspectors and quality technicians, overseeing incoming, in-process, and final inspections while working closely with production, engineering, and operations teams to ensure hardware is built correctly, efficiently, and to the highest reliability standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily quality operations including incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection of hardware and assemblies.
  • Ensure materials, components, and finished products meet engineering specifications, workmanship standards, and quality requirements.
  • Lead and develop a team of quality inspectors and technicians, providing direction, coaching, and performance management.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics and ensure production hardware meets required quality and delivery expectations.
  • Partner closely with engineering, production, and operations teams to identify and resolve quality issues impacting production or hardware reliability.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to nonconforming hardware or process issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, procedures, and applicable regulatory or industry requirements.
  • Conduct process audits and ensure procedures are followed throughout manufacturing and integration operations.
  • Support employee training initiatives to ensure proper workmanship standards and inspection processes are maintained.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the quality organization.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a scientific discipline, or a related technical field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising teams of 10 or more employees in a manufacturing, aerospace, or high-reliability production environment.
  • Experience overseeing quality inspection activities including incoming, in-process, and final inspection operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting aerospace, satellite, or other high-reliability hardware manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience leading quality operations within complex manufacturing or production organizations.
  • Familiarity with root cause and corrective action (RCCA) processes and quality management systems.

  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of motivating and developing teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and operations leadership.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and reliability.

Technology Stack

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Quality documentation and inspection systems
  • Manufacturing and production tracking systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and production environment supporting hardware inspections and quality operations.
  • Ability to stand and move through production areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or otherwise authorized to work in the United States in compliance with export control regulations.
