ABOUT US: Founded in 1968, our client is a privately-held leader in the design and manufacturing of outerwear, sportswear, denim, and dresses.
JOB OVERVIEW: We are looking to fill the position of Associate Designer for the Missy Division with 2-5 years of industry experience, preferably with some experience in the mass market sector.
Your responsibilities will involve translating creative visions into practical designs and ensuring that the products align with brand aesthetic, quality standards and customer preferences. You will collaborate with cross functional teams and mentor junior designers.
Associate Designer Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Design Director to conduct research and report on industry trends, & color direction, and fabric innovations that can relate to the company’s target customer
- Present ideas to the management through sketching, presentation boards, design development and details that translate and reflect brand identity
- Stay updated with latest fashion trends, colors, fabrications and innovations related to the junior’s market
- Interpret specific color palettes, patterns, and prints for the season, selecting and approving styles, materials, trims, and colors
- Review and comment on lab dips, and strike-offs for styles in production
- Lead fit session with Tech Design throughout the season, ensuring clear communication, and alignment on fit standards.
- React to current product selling performance based on customer feedback and sales results, incorporating learnings into the future design
- Communicate with buyers, and overseas vendors to ensure flawless execution of design concepts
Associate Designer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design OR Equivalent Experience
- Highly proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Previous use of PLM systems (Preferred)
- Able to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment and adjust shifting priorities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
