Job DescriptionEssential Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)
The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Interpret aerospace specifications including Military, Federal, AMS, and other applicable customer specifications as related to heat treatment, testing, and processing requirements.

Review incoming purchase orders and parts to confirm compatibility with customer heat treating requirements.

Create process masters, translating customer specifications into specific processing sequences in strict conformance with requirements.

Review shop traveler and receiver for correctness prior to release for processing.
-
Communicate with customers to clarify purchase order requirements and provide consultation when failures occur.

Review laboratory test certifications for acceptance results prior to release for shipment; follow up on failures and issue rework instructions.

Maintain all computer process master files pertaining to heat treating and applicable processes, updating as required.

Ensure conformance to quality program requirements through external/internal audits, corrective action program, and associate qualification through testing and training.

Oversee and maintain AS9100, Nadcap accreditation.

Interface with inside sales/customer service departments on quotes when required.

Assist shop supervisors with proper racking, fixturing, straightening procedures, and tooling design.

Responsible for process development of new parts and technologies.

Lead process improvements including productivity, cost reductions, waste elimination, process mapping, and SPC.

Review and comment on new specifications, provide clarification and/or exceptions, and follow up with customers.

Function as a member of the management team, including participation in staff meetings.

Work in a manner consistent with the EMS.

Perform other duties as assigned or dictated by position.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education: Must possess extensive metallurgical knowledge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or equivalent.

Experience: 5 years’ experience and practical knowledge of commercial heat treatments of aerospace alloys, including steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel, brass, copper, etc. Familiarity with inspection and laboratory processes required.

Effective communication skills for interfacing with all management levels, shop supervision, and customers.

Knowledge of company capabilities, commercial, aircraft, aerospace, ASME, and Military specifications.

Ability to write general procedures for heat treatment of materials in accordance with customer requirements.

Ability to make written recommendations for improving Quality System and Procedures.

Knowledgeable in fixturing design as it relates to heat treating and straightening.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints; precise and detail oriented.

Knowledge of computer applications required.

Must be able to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

Compliance: This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
Physical & Mental Demands

Ability to work in a sitting and/or standing position for extended periods in an office/industrial environment.

Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
