Position Summary

The Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 3 to 4 years old. The teacher will promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through developmentally appropriate activities while maintaining compliance with all licensing regulations and The Academy policies.


Child Care and Supervision

  • Provide active supervision of all children at all times.
  • Ensure children's safety, well-being, and emotional security throughout the day.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and perform regular head counts.
  • Guide children using positive behavior management techniques.
  • Assist children with self-help skills such as toileting, handwashing, dressing, and meal routines.
  • Respond appropriately to children's individual needs and developmental stages.
  • Foster positive peer interactions and conflict-resolution skills.


Health and Safety

  • Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe classroom environment.
  • Conduct daily health observations and report concerns to administration.
  • Follow proper diapering, toileting, handwashing, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure classroom materials and equipment are safe and age-appropriate.
  • Complete incident and accident reports as required.
  • Participate in emergency drills and follow emergency procedures.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequently bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and engage in active play.
  • Lift and carry children up to 40 pounds when necessary.
  • Move quickly to respond to children's needs and emergencies.
  • Supervise children indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Maintain visual and auditory awareness of children at all times.


Family Communication

  • Build positive relationships with families.
  • Communicate daily regarding children's activities, accomplishments, and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation through center-approved communication systems.
  • Participate in parent conferences as requested.
  • Respond professionally and respectfully to family questions and concerns.
  • Partner with families to support children's development and success.


Lead Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary classroom leader and role model.
  • Train, mentor, and support assistant teachers and classroom aides.
  • Ensure lesson plans, assessments, and classroom documentation are completed on time.
  • Maintain compliance with licensing standards and The Academy policies.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with administration regarding classroom needs and concerns.
  • Assist with maintaining classroom ratios and daily operations.
  • Promote professionalism, teamwork, and a positive work environment.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Childcare experience preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Ability to meet all state licensing requirements.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
