SR. MATHEMATICIAN/CRYPTOGRAPHIC SME

Position Description

JOB TYPE: Full-time

WORK LOCATION: Hybrid. Only Candidates residing in the DC Metropolitan area (DC, MD and VA) will be considered for this position.

ABOUT: QMS Consulting (QMS) is an Education Technology (EdTech) and Information Technology (IT) Consulting firm specializing in Cybersecurity / Data Protection, Cloud Lifecycle, Software Development and Data Science. QMS seeks a senior mathematician / cryptographic subject matter expert (SME) to work within a dynamic and highly innovative cybersecurity team that supports federal government customers. The Sr. Mathematician / Cryptographic SME will include researching, analyzing innovative cryptographic algorithms to support the protection of existing information systems and assets against emerging technologies. This position will include performing assessments, creating playbooks, and strategic plans.

In this role, you should be technically sound, detail oriented with the ability to lead tasks and ensure high-quality service delivery. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for this position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Sr. Mathematician / Cryptographic SME responsibilities include:

Create an inventory of priority cryptographic systems for evaluation, analysis and assessment. .
Identify cryptographic algorithms that are resistant to emerging technologies such as quantum computers.
Develop an emerging technology resistant cryptography migration plan.
Conduct recurring meetings with cryptographic algorithm vendors to identify technologies that need to migrate from emerging technology vulnerable cryptography to emerging technology resistant cryptography.
Test emerging technology resistant cryptography in non-production environments and develop playbook using about the results to prepare for implementation in production environments.
Implement emerging technology resistant cryptography in production environments and provide recurring status of the cryptographic algorithms resistance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Sr. Mathematician / Cryptographic SME requirements include:

2+ years of Cryptography experience or;
3+ years of Mathematician experience.
Ability to obtain security clearance.
B.S. in Mathematics.

SALARY:
$89,000 - $110,000
