This position will report to the Sr. Manager of Sales and Operations Planning and will have ample opportunity to grow with broader responsibilities.

Production Planner

We are seeking an experienced Production Planner to lead production planning efforts for our growing food manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in production scheduling and inventory management within the consumer goods or food industry. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal inventory levels, efficient production schedules, and seamless supply chain operations while meeting customer demand and minimizing waste.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop production plans and schedules that balance customer demand, production capacity, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Logistics teams to ensure on-time production and delivery.
  • Adjust production plans based on seasonality, supply disruptions, and changing demand.


Inventory Management

  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure adequate inventory levels and minimize stockouts or overages.
  • Monitor and control finished goods inventory to prevent stockouts or overproduction.
  • Work with Procurement to ensure the timely availability of ingredients, packaging, and raw materials.
  • Provide reports to department stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Act as a key liaison between operations, logistics, and customer service teams to improve order fulfillment rates.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance planning processes and tools, implementing best practices for efficiency and accuracy.


Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Analyze key performance metrics (forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, service levels) and implement process improvements.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives related to production efficiency, inventory management, and supply chain optimization.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to leadership on capacity constraints and supply chain risks.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Production Planning in the food or consumer goods industry with or without Supply Chain experience; can be substituted with 3-5 of Inventory Control and / or Purchasing experience.
  • Bachelors degree in related field; Masters preferred.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, inventory management techniques, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in production planning and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent financial acumen and ability to ad hoc analyze/manipulate large data sets.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems (Sage, Business Central, etc.). and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management/organizational skills, and detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy.
  • Understanding of food production constraints, shelf-life considerations, and supply chain complexities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in food manufacturing.
  • APICS, CPIM, or related supply chain certification is a plus.
