Job Description

Job Description Step into a day on our shop floor

It’s 7:00 AM at the Timken Aurora Bearing facility. You clock in, review the print, and set up a Mazak or Haas for the first piece. From bar stock, you turn I.D. and O.D., face, chamfer, groove, and drill to exacting specs. You dial in speeds and feeds, select the right arbors, fixtures, inserts, and tooling, and tweak offsets until the first article passes—paperwork completed for setup approval. Through the shift, you load parts, cycle the machine, verify dimensions at set intervals with micrometers and gages, and make adjustments to hold tolerance. Fluids are topped off, the work area stays orderly, and when needed, you surface grind and re-sharpen arbor teeth to keep production humming.

Role scope

  • Program and/or operate CNC lathes and mills to meet print requirements for I.D., O.D., facing, chamfering, grooving, and drilling from bar stock.
  • Select and change arbors, fixtures, speeds, inserts, and tooling per drawing specifications.
  • Produce and adjust the first piece to achieve quality characteristics; complete documentation for setup approval.
  • Load parts, run cycles, perform in-process checks at defined intervals, and adjust as needed to maintain quality through the run.
  • Maintain machine health, including monitoring and replenishing fluid levels.
  • Surface grind and re-sharpen arbor teeth as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year in a manufacturing setting operating CNC equipment preferred; setup experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with machines such as Hardinge lathe, HAAS, Mazak, Ganesh, and Doosan is advantageous.
  • Proficient with micrometers and precision gaging; able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Comfortable with shop math and basic computer use; strong communication skills.

Shifts and pay

  • 1st shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: 3:30 PM–12:00 AM
  • Pay based on experience starting at $21.50/hr, plus $1.50/hr for 2nd shift.
  • On-the-job training and growth opportunities available.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with company match on the first 6%.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Short- and long-term disability benefits.
  • Health Savings Account with company contribution.
  • Flexible Spending Account options.
  • Company-paid life insurance.
  • Parental leave.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • Paid vacation and holidays.
  • Wellness programs and discounts.

What you’re great at

  • GD&T interpretation and blueprint reading.
  • Troubleshooting CNC machines, tooling, and processes.
  • G-code and M-code familiarity.
  • CNC setup, changeover, and manual machining fundamentals.
  • Precision measurement and hand metrology.
  • Effective communication and basic computer skills.
  • Working in aerospace manufacturing environments.
