Trystar is seeking a highly skilled Field Sales Engineer to design, develop, and deliver custom-engineered critical power solutions for some of the most demanding applications in the world. In this customer-facing technical role, you’ll work with Fortune 500 data centers, major utilities, hospitals, universities, and large commercial/industrial facilities - helping them safeguard operations with a wide breath of customized power solutions.

This position blends deep technical expertise with strategic sales support, offering a unique opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle - from concept and application engineering to commissioning and customer handoff. You will collaborate with Sales Managers, 3rd Party Manufacturing Representatives, and Engineering teams to ensure every solution meets stringent technical requirements while delivering clear business value.

We are looking for people who believe in our guiding principles and values of:

  • Safety – We believe everyone should leave Trystar facilities in the same or better condition than when they arrived.
  • Integrity – We’re honest, transparent, and committed to doing what’s right.
  • Customer focus – We have relentless focus on our customers and their success.
  • Right with speed – We use good judgement, make thoughtful decisions quickly, and execute them with purpose and intensity.
  • Play for each other – We’re a team. We show up for each other and we know that through teamwork we achieve greatness.
  • Champion change – We know adaptation and improvement are requirements to survive and to thrive.
  • Enjoy the journey – We create an environment where our team feels appreciated and has fun along the way.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary technical authority in your territory for low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment, including switchgear, transfer switches, switchboards, load banks, generator docking stations, and power conversion offerings.
  • Identify and develop sales opportunities in critical power markets (hospitals, data centers, industrial). Work directly with customers to assess needs, conduct site visits, and develop custom-engineered solutions for critical infrastructure and mission-critical facilities.
  • Consult with clients to design and propose customized power solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure solutions meet client specifications. Prepare specifications, technical proposals, and system designs that align with project requirements, industry standards, and Trystar’s engineering best practices.
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to translate complex technical capabilities into compelling customer value propositions.
  • Provide application guidance during installation, testing, commissioning, ongoing use, and maintenance to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Work directly with and call on design engineers and end users to introduce Trystar’s leading portfolio of customized critical power solutions through technical presentations, solution proposals, and project discussions.
  • Manage full sales cycle: prospecting, presentations, negotiations, and closing.
  • Provide technical support and product expertise during pre- and post-sales phases.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and competitor offerings.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the critical power systems, electrical distribution, or industrial power equipment market, either designing, managing, or selling these solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and UL standards for power systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical decision-makers.
  • Experience supporting sales teams, sales representatives, or customers through project design, specification, and execution.
  • Experience working within CRM, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other common business software tools.
  • Willingness to travel within your territory for customer site visits, engineering reviews, and project support. Expecting between 50 to 70% Travel.
