Job Description
The General Laborer supports a large construction project in Golden, Colorado by maintaining a clean, safe job site and assisting with fire watch duties. This role suits someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the reliability to show up and work hard every day. You will handle general cleanup tasks, help manage construction debris, and stay alert to potential fire hazards while being trained to use a fire extinguisher.
Responsibilities
- Maintain overall cleanliness of the construction site by picking up construction debris and disposing of it properly.
- Sweep and clean work areas regularly to ensure a safe and organized job site.
- Perform general labor tasks as directed, including supporting concrete, construction, and landscaping activities.
- Carry and move materials and equipment, including performing heavy lifting as needed.
- Serve as a fire watch by remaining attentive to work activities and monitoring for sparks or other potential fire hazards.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to any signs of fire or unsafe conditions, following site safety protocols.
- Complete training on the proper and safe use of a fire extinguisher and apply that training if needed.
- Arrive on time each day, follow instructions from site leadership, and consistently demonstrate strong work ethic and reliability.
- Follow all site safety rules, wear required personal protective equipment, and help promote a safe work environment for all team members.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated attentiveness and ability to stay alert while monitoring work areas for potential hazards.
- Willingness to perform general labor tasks such as debris removal and sweeping.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and handle physically demanding work throughout the shift.
- Basic familiarity or comfort working around concrete, construction, or landscaping activities.
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to showing up consistently and working hard every day.
- Positive, cooperative attitude and ability to follow directions on a busy construction site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in general labor, construction, concrete work, or landscaping is beneficial but not required.
- Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions on an active construction site.
- Willingness to complete fire watch training and learn proper fire extinguisher use.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
The role is based at a large, active construction project at the National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden, Colorado. You will work on an outdoor job site that can involve exposure to changing weather conditions, dust, noise, and typical construction activities. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with an emphasis on maintaining a clean and organized site. You should expect to be on your feet for most of the day, performing physically demanding tasks that include heavy lifting and continuous movement around the site. Standard construction-site personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, work gloves, and sturdy work boots will be required in accordance with site safety policies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Golden, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.77 - $20.77/hr.
