Position Overview:

The Assistant Buyer supports the Buyer in achieving department and company financial goals.

They are responsible for helping exceed department revenue and profit goals by working with internal and external partners to help create assortments, coordinate deliveries, and analyze weekly sales.

They will partner with other internal departments such as planning, marketing, ops team, and field team to execute overall strategies.

The assistant will also contribute to finding new items, categories, and ideas through market research and competitive shopping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support buyer in building out assortment plans
  • Create and input purchase orders into the system
  • Track purchase orders and resolve delivery issues
  • Review weekly availability from each grower/vendor
  • Assist buyer with grower/vendor meetings
  • Onboard new growers/vendors
  • Work with the marketing team and site team to set up new items on the site
  • Collaborate with planning on replenishment/re-orders
  • Recap and analyze business results weekly/monthly/seasonally
  • Provide ad hoc analysis (hindsight, SKU/category productivity, etc.) and summarize findings
  • Conduct market research and recap results every week
  • Support the buyer in identifying business opportunities and/or risks in the assortment
  • Daily walk-through of our website to verify the accurate presence of top items
  • Walk through the farm with the field team lead to determine opportunities and risks
  • Maintain expiration list each week
  • Maintain grower/vendor contact information
  • Analyze monthly vendor report card

About You:

  • Highly organized, Self-motivated, and can work independently
  • Proficient in retail math
  • Experienced in Excel with the ability to perform complex functions, such as SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables
  • Proficient in Google Suite
  • Flexibility and ability to follow through with tasks
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Execute tasks with a high level of accuracy
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify issues, recommend and implement strategies to resolve problems

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a retail environment
  • Previous assistant buyer experience a plus
