Composite Technician - Weekly Pay!!

Job Description

I am seeking qualified, dedicated, and reliable candidates to join my client's team of Composite Technicians. As a Composite Technician, you will assist in preparing molds and forms, marking, and cutting materials such as tape, woven material, honeycomb, and adhesive. You will perform tasks like drilling, trimming, and sanding to blueprint dimensions and tolerances. Your role will include operating a vacuum press, assisting in composite material lay-up, and ensuring smooth build-up free from wrinkles and voids. You will also develop shop aids, assemble aircraft components, prepare surfaces for painting, and apply coatings using a spray gun. Quality assurance is a priority, and you will maintain records, verify material quality, and ensure a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of molds and forms.
  • Mark and cut materials following templates, guides, or specific dimensions.
  • Drill, trim, and sand materials to blueprint dimensions and tolerances.
  • Operate vacuum press and assist in the lay-up of composite materials.
  • Smooth successive layers to secure build-up free from wrinkles and voids.
  • Assist in developing shop aids for fabrication and assembly.
  • Assemble aircraft components using adhesives, rivets, and fasteners.
  • Prepare surfaces and paint composite and metal components.
  • Apply epoxy paints, urethane, and water-based coatings.
  • Check expiration dates of materials and prepare resin mixes.
  • Make continuity checks and verify quality in accordance with procedures.
  • Maintain records and support quality processes.
  • Observe laws, regulations, and safety protocols.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and understand written instructions and blueprints.
  • Experience with hand tools, such as rollers, scissors, and heat guns.
  • Proficient in using measuring instruments like scales and calipers.
  • Familiarity with shop tools such as band saws and drill press.
  • Ability to work in a loud environment and lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience with Pre-Preg composites, carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand tools.
  • Trainable candidates with a desire to build and learn quickly.
  • Respirator certification may be required.

Work Environment

The technician will receive assignments from a lead and work independently or with guidance as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spanish Fork, UT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.41 - $20.41/hr.
