Summary:

The AOI Operator is responsible for programming and operating automated optical inspection (AOI) machines for assembled printed circuit boards and making IPC acceptability decisions during AOI operations. They will be responsible managing quality processes, performing in-process and final inspections through the work cell, and utilizing analytical skills to ensure product integrity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine set-up, operation, and adjustments
  • Operate and monitor automatic optical inspection (AOI) equipment to ensure efficient and accurate inspection of electronic components and assemblies
  • Inspect electronic components and printed circuit boards (PCBs) using AOI systems to identify defects such as missing components, misaligned parts, soldering defects, and other manufacturing errors
  • Document inspection results, including defect types, potential assembly/solder defects quantities, and locations, using electronic databases or paper-based records
  • Analyze inspection results and determine the appropriate course of action, which may include rework, repair, or rejection of defective components or assemblies
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and production staff to relay inspection findings, discuss quality issues, and collaborate on process improvements to make sure assemblies meet Customer Bill of Materials
  • Adhere to quality control standards and procedures to ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry regulations, and company requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on equipment performance, process efficiencies, and quality improvement opportunities
  • Ability to work with ERP systems such as Aegis and Epicor
  • Support quick-turn on a daily basis
  • Evaluate production parts or modules against standards
  • Work with daily priority
  • Using supplied data, create or modify AOI programs-
  • Using familiarity with IPC-A-610 Class II and III also to J-Standards, inspect finished articles
  • Use high-power microscopes to conduct 1st and 2nd article inspections
  • Label all visible defects and communicate with production until it passes AOI
  • Complete inspection reports
  • Deliver results as committed by you.
  • Always adhere to ESC Quality System and Instructions
  • Perform tasks in such way that align with ESC Vision and Mission Statement

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate English reading and writing skills
  • Ability to use PCs and common software packages like Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprint, and schematics
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 compliance standards
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed to support production.
  • Detail oriented with a positive energy to make things work
  • Able to work in a flexible, team environment with a collaborative mindset
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to work independently
  • Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience in an electronic manufacturing environment, preferably with aerospace/defense contracts
  • Associate degree in industry related field
  • Advanced knowledge of IPC-A-610 inspection standards
  • Advanced knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 inspection standards
