Botics designs and builds custom automation systems for manufacturers. Our solutions include robotic cells, custom machinery, tooling, electrical control systems, and software that power modern factories.

We are an Authorized FANUC System Integrator, a member of A3 (Association for Advancing Automation), and a certified UL508A Panel Shop.


Role Description

Botics is seeking a Mechanical Designer focused on industrial automation and machine design to join our engineering team. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Tiffin, OH, with flexibility for remote work.


You will design robotic cells, automation machines, fixtures, and end-of-arm tooling using SolidWorks, working closely with electrical and controls engineers from concept through machine build and commissioning. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing real machines that get built and run in factories.


Responsibilities

  • Design industrial automation machines, tooling, and fixtures using SolidWorks
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings
  • Design robotic cells, machine frames, automated workstations, and EOAT
  • Collaborate with controls and electrical engineers for system integration
  • Select mechanical components such as actuators, sensors, bearings, and motion systems
  • Support machine builds, prototyping, and commissioning
  • Ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, and safe


Qualifications

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks (preferred) or similar CAD software
  • Experience with machine design or industrial automation equipment
  • Experience designing tooling, fixtures, robotic cells, or automated machinery
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and tolerancing
  • Ability to create clear technical drawings and documentation
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience


Preferred Experience

  • Designing machine weldments and structural frames
  • Robotic automation systems (FANUC experience a plus)
  • Pneumatics, conveyors, fixturing, and motion systems
  • Supporting machine builds or commissioning

Salary

$80,000 – $135,000 depending on experience.
