Job Description: Low Voltage Technician - Hospitality Industry

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Technician to join our dynamic team. Torch Networks is a low-voltage and IT services integration company serving the Hospitality industry as well as small enterprise business, senior living, MDU, and other segments. As a Low Voltage Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful implementation and maintenance of various low voltage applications and network hardware installations. We seek candidates with proven expertise working with low-voltage systems and pulling low-voltage cabling. Additional responsibilities and qualifications include:

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience with general construction or low-voltage work is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in pulling cables and working with low voltage systems, including fiber-optic, copper cabling, data room setup and installation, CCTV/security, audio-visual, and access control equipment. Familiarity with wireless networking, network hardware, installation, and configuration are advantageous. Familiarity with fusion splicing and cable certification tools a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to work systematically through long-term projects, attention to detail while conducting installations, progress updates, and documentation procedures.
  • Safety Conscious: Experience with safety procedures on active job sites. Committed to adhering to safety protocols and ensuring the safety of self and others during installations and maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
  • Adaptability: Capable of handling multiple tasks, priorities, and projects in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly and professionally. Ability to utilize regular communication tools and processes.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel as required by the employer to meet the needs of different Hospitality properties.
  • Certifications: Additional certifications such as BICSI, Panduit, Cisco, etc. a plus but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Low Voltage Application: Pull, terminate, and certify cable for various low voltage applications, including but not limited to security systems, audio-visual equipment, access control systems, and data/voice networks.
  • Network Hardware Installation: Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware components, such as switches, routers, access points, and related peripherals, to maintain a robust and reliable network infrastructure.
  • Site Assessments: Conduct on-site assessments of existing infrastructure including cabling, conduit, and available pathways, to determine the appropriate low-voltage solutions required for specific locations, ensuring compatibility and adherence to industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT professionals, electricians, and general contractors, to coordinate the installation and integration of low-voltage systems seamlessly.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all low-voltage installations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company guidelines to deliver high-quality and reliable solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all low-voltage work, including installation diagrams, cable schedules, and test reports, facilitating effective maintenance and future upgrades.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to low-voltage systems, network connectivity, and hardware malfunctions promptly, minimizing downtime and service disruptions.
  • Travel Requirements: Be willing to travel to various properties and hotels throughout the region, as assigned by the employer, to provide low voltage installation, maintenance, and support services. Additional opportunities outside the region but within the continental US are also a possibility (travel and per-diem included).
  • Training and Development: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to low-voltage systems, networking, and Hospitality applications. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
