Job DescriptionSalary:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner(PMHNP)works under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Director and in close coordination with other clinic personnel. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides Behavioral/Medical care to clinic patients including examination, diagnosis and treatment, with referral to specialists or hospitals where indicated.
Role Functions:
- Diagnosing, conducting, and prescribing medications for patients having psychiatric-mental health problems.
- Responsible for providing emergency psychiatric services, physician and psycho-social examinations of their patients.
- Developing appropriate treatment plan and providing effective management of patient care with proper evaluation.
- Consulting with patients and families having multiple and complex disorders; and working in a collaborative and integrative roles with primary healthcare providers.
- Performing invasive procedures.
- Educating patients on positive health promoting lifestyle choices and diseases, injury and illness prevention.
Minimum Qualification
Education:Master of Science Degree in Nursing with concentration in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner required.
Experience:Must be licensed as a Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to practice in the State of Louisiana, as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Obtain the medical education required to maintain certification or licensure.
Certification:Mental Health NP
