Job DescriptionPosition Overview

Now hiring CDL-A drivers for a local intermodal position based in the Minneapolis–St. Paul, MN area. This opportunity offers daily home time, steady freight, and multiple shift and schedule options, allowing drivers to choose what fits their lifestyle.

Drivers will haul intermodal containers between rail yards and local customers with consistent miles and reliable weekly pay.

Route & Freight Details

• Local runs within a 150-mile radius of St. Paul, MN
• Primary operations through local rail yards
• Average ~1,175 miles per week
• Average ~16 loads per week
• 50% drop & hook / 50% live load
• ~5% refrigerated intermodal freight
• Some loads may include alcohol or pork products
• 100% intermodal container freight on chassis

Schedule & Shift Options

This position offers multiple schedules and start times:

Tuesday – Saturday (OFF Sunday & Monday)

Day Shift Option:

• 6:00 AM start

Afternoon Shift Option:

• 4:00 PM start

Wednesday – Sunday (OFF Monday & Tuesday)

• 5:00 PM start

Thursday – Monday (OFF Tuesday & Wednesday) – Weekend Wrap

• 2:00 AM start

Home daily on all schedules
Typical workday: ~10 hours (up to 50 hours/week)
Mix of day, evening, and overnight shifts available

Pay & Compensation

• Avg Weekly Pay: $1,400–$1,635
• Avg Annual Pay: $73,000 – $85,000

Mileage Pay:

• $0.46 – $0.51 CPM

Additional Pay:

• $23 drop & hook per stop
• $50 live load/unload per stop
• $25 hazmat load pay (optional, reimbursed)
• $30 refrigerated load pay
• $25 driver assist pay
• $15 empty move pay
• $20–$25/hour detention, rail delay, and breakdown pay
• Safety bonus up to $1,000 annually

Equipment & Work Setup

• Day cab tractors (mostly Freightliners)
• Intermodal chassis equipment
• Average fleet age ~2.5 years
• Slip seat operation
• Trucks parked at terminal during time off

Requirements

• Valid CDL-A license
• Minimum 3 months of tractor-trailer experience required
• Must live within commuting distance of Minneapolis–St. Paul, MN
• Must be able to work flexible shifts (day, night, weekends)
• Hazmat endorsement optional (paid/reimbursed if obtained)
