Health information technicians gather information from patient visits and follow-ups to analyze and provide data for any legal requests, authorizations, and record requests. They also provide administrative support to other staff and departments. Their day-to-day can consist of varied responsibilities surrounding patient data.
Position Summary:
Ensure that any and all relative reports are provided to our physicians and procedure facilities as requested. Compile all medical test results and reports and scan in the chart. Send all communication to the patient involving their office visit.
Responsibilities:

Reviewing patient data and medical records for accuracy and quality control.

Retrieve medical records for physicians and other medical personnel.

Uses the OnBase system to correctly distribute in bound faxes.

Distribute mail that comes into the office via USPS, FedEx, UPS, and Inter office.

Billing Cards for Holy Redeemer Hospital. Works with Physicians to ensure that consult/ procedure records are documented completely before cards and the information is sent to EJS for billing.

Utilize the JOT Form system to upload completed Direct access colonoscopy submissions from our website to EPIC for scheduling.

Maintaining confidentiality, security, and accessibility of medical records.

Completes all tasks in a timely manner and with a high level of quality.

Works in collaboration with other departments to ensure that information is accurate and timely.

All other Duties as assigned.
Skills:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
•Experience in medical records related work preferred.
•Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English and have good oral and written communication skills
•Must have the ability to perform job function, follow directions, and make decisions without direct supervision
•Must have a working knowledge of computers and be able to navigate the internet
•Must be proficient at using Windows and Microsoft Office, especially with the use of Outlook, and shared files as daily tools
•Must be detail oriented, display a high level of accuracy, and be organized
