An Outside Agricultural Equipment Salesperson is responsible for promoting and selling new and used farm equipment, precision agriculture technology, parts, and services to customers within a defined sales territory. This roll requires some travel to customer locations and is focused on building and maintaining strong relationships with farmers and other agricultural businesses.
Key Responsibilities

Sales and Promotion:

Sell new and used agricultural equipment (e.g., tractors, combines, planters), parts, services, and technology-based products to new and existing customers.

Conduct in-field equipment demonstrations and sales presentations.

Proactively call on current and prospective customers (farm-to-farm, business-to-business) to generate sales leads and close deals.

Customer Relationship Management:

Build and maintain lasting, strong relationships with customers, acting as the key point of contact for the dealership or company.

Understand customers' operations, business activities, and future needs to provide tailored recommendations and solutions.

Provide after-sale product follow-up, equipment operations support, and operator training as needed.

Market and Product Knowledge:

Maintain current, in-depth product knowledge of all equipment, features, benefits, and services offered by the company and its competitors.

Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and changes in agricultural practices.

Maintain current knowledge of financing and risk management options to assist customers with securing purchases.

Administrative and Reporting:

Know and follow a defined sales process, including reviewing equipment availability and completing necessary paperwork (e.g., sales contracts).

Maintain accurate and organized customer information and sales management data in a CRM or dealership system.

Evaluate used equipment and report to management to determine trade-in valuation.

Prepare sales reports and presentations as required.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in agricultural, heavy equipment, or related sales is often preferred.

Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the agricultural industry, modern farm practices, and farm equipment (such as specific manufacturer lines like New Holland, John Deere, Case IH, etc.) is highly valued.

Education: A High School Diploma is typically required, but a Bachelor's degree in Business, Agricultural Business, Sales, or a related field is often preferred.
