The Traffic Coordinator is a detail-oriented team member, supporting the warehouse and customer service team to ensure daily operations runs efficiently. Their primary role is to manage and organize daily inbound and outbound operations. This position requires excellent communication, organization, and scheduling skills.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily available truck capacity to ensure excellence in service to our customers while maintaining expected margins
- Develop and maintain daily shipment schedules, optimizing routes and loads to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Plan for peak periods and coordinate additional resources as needed
- Coordinate and monitor all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
- Organize and schedule transportation, including booking carriers, assigning routes, and managing delivery timelines
- Monitor that vendor service agreements and requests are aligned to the services requested.
- Track and manage chassis usage to avoid unnecessary charges
- Monitor container days and coordinate timely returns to avoid detention and demurrage fees
- Maintains communication with Ocean Lines and Terminal for containers updates
- Ensure we meet and exceed clients’ expectations and needs
- Plan daily receiving and dispatching based on customer requirements
- Find solutions to any situation that may arise about dispatching ad receives
- Escalate any situation with supporting data to Managers and Directors
- Monitor emails closely to ensure load plans and any other inquiry from our customer service team is completed accordingly
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
Education and Experience:
- One (1) year of experience handling traffic, documentation, and customer service functions for ocean transportation
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (required) and Spanish (required).
- Basic skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.
- Ability to effectively communicate (read and write) in a business environment.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in prioritizing projects delegated by supervisor.
7am - 4pm or 8am - 5pm or 9am - 6pm
