Job DescriptionRole: Senior UI/UX Designer
Rate: $50/hour W2
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Hybrid (4 days onsite)
We are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer focused on Design Systems to lead the creation, evolution, and governance of a scalable, component-based design system supporting enterprise digital products.
This is not a traditional UX role. The ideal candidate will specialize in building reusable UI components, defining standards, and ensuring system adoption across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain a scalable design system used across multiple products and teams
- Build and document reusable UI components, patterns, and libraries in Figma
- Define and enforce design standards (typography, spacing, color, layout, interaction patterns)
- Establish and support design system governance and adoption across teams
- Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure alignment between design systems and component implementation
- Support component-based, CMS-driven, and modular design environments
- Ensure accessibility (WCAG) is embedded into all system components
- Provide clear documentation and usage guidelines for designers and developers
- Collaborate with product, UX, engineering, and brand teams to ensure consistency at scale
Required Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of experience in UI/UX with strong design systems focus
- Proven experience building and owning design systems, not just contributing
- Advanced proficiency in Figma (components, variants, libraries, tokens)
- Experience creating component libraries at scale (50+ components preferred)
- Strong understanding of design system architecture and scalability
- Experience working across multiple teams or product lines using a shared system
- Familiarity with component-based development and front-end workflows
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Excellent communication and ability to influence teams to adopt system standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design tokens and system theming
- Exposure to Material Design or similar large-scale systems
- Experience with Storybook, Zeroheight, or similar system documentation tools
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, or front-end frameworks (React/Angular)
- Experience supporting design-to-development handoff and implementation
What We’re Looking For
- A design system builder, not just a product designer
- Someone who creates components and systems vs full-page UI flows
- Experience working in environments where multiple teams rely on a shared system
- Ability to drive consistency, governance, and adoption at scale
- Portfolio demonstrating design systems, components, and documentation
