Job Title: Part-Time Driver

Company: United Mailing Services, Inc. (UMS)

Location: Madison

Shifts Available: Mid-shift (2PM-5PM)

Job Overview

UMS is hiring dedicated Drivers to join our team! UMS driving personnel are responsible for the safe and efficient transport of mail between customer locations, UMS facilities, and the USPS. We are looking for reliable drivers who can navigate assigned routes safely, represent UMS with exceptional customer service, and adapt to changing daily production schedules.

As a Driver, you will report directly to your Route Department Supervisor/Manager or Shift Production Manager. (Note: Directions may also be received from Facility Operations/GM or Corporate Management).

Key Responsibilities

  • Route Execution & Transport: Accurately navigate assigned routes to pick up mail from customers in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. Complete routes efficiently to return mail safely to the local UMS facility for processing.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload UMS vehicles (vans, trucks, box trucks) in a timely and safe manner.
  • Customer Service & Communication: Represent UMS daily to customers by providing quality service. Report customer requests, concerns, or production disruptions back to facility management promptly.
  • Safety & Vehicle Maintenance: Adhere strictly to UMS driver safety policies and procedures. Operate vehicles safely and confidently in all weather conditions, and report any vehicle problems immediately.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Perform the job duties of a Mail Processor as needed to assist production and keep mail moving efficiently to the USPS.
  • Teamwork & Policy Compliance: Maintain full adherence to all UMS policies—including Attendance/Punctuality, Equal Employment Opportunity, Harassment, Drug & Alcohol, and Safety & Security. Function effectively both independently and within a team setting.

Physical Requirements & Qualifications

  • Licensing: Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with a good Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Driving Ability: Proven ability to drive safely and confidently in all weather conditions.
  • Lifting: Ability to repetitively lift containers weighing 10–15 lbs, with the ability to handle heavier volumes requiring frequent loading of trucks and box trucks.
  • Key Skills: Ability to follow instructions, multitask, work independently, and troubleshoot basic operational issues on the route.
  • Reliability: Dependable attendance and a strong commitment to meeting customer and USPS delivery deadlines.
