PURPOSE:
The Department of Science, Technology and Mathematics at Lincoln University invites applications for a fulltime Instructor of Mathematics position beginning August 2026. This full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track role is designed for a dedicated educator looking to transition into academia with a focus in mathematics and mathematics education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Primary teaching areas include lower-division undergraduate mathematics courses.
- Maintain regular office hours to provide high-quality instructional support to students.
- Lincoln University faculty are expected to also advise and mentor students and serve on
departmental and institutional committees, as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- All duties pertinent to teaching, including curriculum development, mentoring, advising, participating in program assessment, review, and maintaining office hours will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Ability to work with a diverse faculty body is required.
- Ability to engage a diverse student body is required.
- Prior teaching experience (especially of a diverse student body) is strongly desired.
- The ability to work with a diverse range of student preparation in the classroom is preferred.
- Experience in various pedagogical teaching techniques in mathematics is a plus.
Certifications, Licenses, registrations:
- Master's degree in mathematics or (a related area) is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Light sedentary office work.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
