Job Description
This role performs a wide range of general labor carpentry work on commercial projects, including wood framing, blocking, installation of door and window frames, and flashing. You will measure, cut, and install building structures, operate hand and power tools, and maintain a clean and safe work area. The position requires consistent physical activity, including lifting and moving materials up to 70 pounds, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform general labor carpentry work, including framing, blocking, and installation of door and window frames and flashing.
- Measure, cut, and install building structures according to project specifications and plans.
- Read and follow blueprints and construction drawings to ensure accurate layout and installation.
- Use saws, hammers, power and pneumatic tools, and measuring tapes safely and effectively.
- Install doors and related hardware with attention to alignment, fit, and finish.
- Support concrete-related tasks as needed, such as setting forms and ensuring proper alignment for framing connections.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing general clean up throughout the day.
- Clean up all scrap and debris around the work site at the end of each day to promote safety and efficiency.
- Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds as part of daily tasks.
- Travel to various job sites as required and adapt to different project locations and conditions.
- Use personally owned basic carpentry tools on site and maintain them in safe working condition.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required protective equipment while working with tools and on active job sites.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of commercial wood framing experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with flashing and door framing on commercial projects.
- Proficiency in carpentry, including framing and finish carpentry tasks.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints and construction drawings.
- Hands-on experience using power tools, including saws and other power or pneumatic tools.
- Skilled in using measuring tools such as measuring tapes and related layout equipment.
- Capability to lift and move up to 70 pounds safely and repeatedly.
- Willingness and ability to travel to different job sites as needed.
- Ability to bring and use personal basic carpentry tools on the job.
- Comfort working outdoors and in varying weather and site conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with concrete-related work in a construction environment.
- Experience in both rough and finish carpentry on commercial structures.
- Strong attention to detail when installing doors, windows, and finish elements.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the day.
- Reliable transportation to travel between project locations.
- Strong work ethic and adaptability to changing schedules and project requirements.

Work Environment
The role follows a structured schedule with current hours of Monday through Thursday at 9-hour days and Friday at a 4-hour day, with some projects operating on 4x10-hour shifts. Overtime is available. All work takes place outdoors on active construction sites, with some tasks performed in open elements and others within partially or fully built structures. Team members must be comfortable working in all weather conditions and adapting to different site environments. The dress code includes jeans, steel-toe footwear, and a t-shirt. The company provides a hard hat and high-visibility cover or gear as required for safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Billings, MT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
