Job Title: Warehouse Worker

Job Description

The Warehouse Worker plays a key role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse while supporting daily shipping, receiving, and material handling operations. You will load and unload delivery vehicles, verify and inspect inventory, operate material handling equipment, and ensure products are accurately labeled and stored. This role is physically demanding and ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness, tidiness, and overall safety of the warehouse at all times.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks and other vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Accept incoming deliveries, count and confirm inventory, and verify accuracy against documentation.
  • Inspect inventory for damage, defects, or faults and report issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant parties when discrepancies or errors arise in shipments or inventory.
  • Mark, label, and organize stock so that items are easy to locate and retrieve.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and other material handling tools as needed.
  • Perform general material handling tasks including picking, packing, packaging, and shipping orders.
  • Use RF scanners to track inventory movement and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Handle hand tools and basic equipment safely while completing warehouse tasks.
  • Support a small team environment by being reliable, punctual, and willing to assist where needed.
  • Work safely and follow all warehouse and manufacturing safety procedures, especially in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Lift and move materials weighing between 50 and 100 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
  • Adapt to increased workload and extended hours during busy seasons, including occasional Saturday work.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Operational knowledge of pallet jacks and basic material handling equipment.
  • Experience with loading and unloading trucks in a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to perform material handling tasks such as picking, packaging, and shipping.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, with the physical ability to handle weights up to 100 pounds as required.
  • High attention to detail when counting, confirming, and labeling inventory.
  • Good communication skills to effectively report issues and coordinate with team members.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent warehouse operations.
  • Ability to work in English, including understanding instructions and communicating with supervisors and team members.
  • Comfort working in a non-temperature-controlled environment that can become hot.
  • Willingness to work a schedule that may increase to 50 hours per week during busy seasons, including up to 2 Saturdays per month.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • No formal education or certifications required for this role.
  • Experience using RF scanners to track inventory is a plus.
  • Familiarity with forklifts is beneficial, even if not required for every task.
  • Experience using hand tools in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • in construction, hands-on manufacturing, or similar physical work is a strong asset.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure is a nice-to-have skill.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing warehouse environment is highly valuable.
  • Demonstrated success by asking questions, staying attentive during training, and following instructions carefully.
  • Comfort working in a team of 10–15 people within a larger manufacturing operation.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site, contract-to-hire position based in West Des Moines, Iowa, within a manufacturing and warehouse environment. The initial contract period is approximately 18 weeks, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Current schedules range from 32 to 40 hours per week, with the expectation that hours may increase to around 50 hours per week during busy seasons, including working up to two Saturdays per month. The facility is not temperature controlled and can get hot, so candidates must be comfortable working in varying temperatures. You will work as part of a small team of about 10–15 people within a larger operation that includes multiple facilities in the area. The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and physically demanding, with regular use of pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other material handling tools. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes or boots, work-appropriate shirts or tank tops, and jeans or shorts suitable for a warehouse setting.E

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $19.50/hr.
