Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment in an industrial or manufacturing environment. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of production equipment through preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and timely repairs to minimize downtime.

Essential Functions

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on industrial machinery, including motors, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and automated production equipment.
• Diagnosing equipment malfunctions and make necessary repairs or replacements using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments.
• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and work orders to determine repair procedures.
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to fabricate or repair parts.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve machine reliability and efficiency.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance processes and procedures.
• Occasional overtime work may be required as job duties demand.

Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment
• Must have general electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, welding and mechanical skills.
• Must be safety conscious and believe that safety is a core value.
• Knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory agencies directives.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with cross-function teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Computer Skills
• Fluent in English: Reading, writing, communicating, bilingual is a plus

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associates Degree in relevant technical field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum of two years of experience in heavy industrial machine troubleshooting and repair. Metal industry experience a plus.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing in a manufacturing environment. This is a physically demanding role that requires frequent standing and walking throughout the shift, as well as bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing, and occasional crawling. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more, with or without assistance. The position also requires the ability to work safely around industrial machinery, hot materials, moving equipment, and forklifts. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, color recognition, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to safely perform job duties.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment. Safety glasses, ear plugs, and safety shoes are required in facilities.
• Work environment is subject to extreme environmental temperatures and significant noise exposure.
