Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is for a Visually Impaired Teacher serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade in a K-12 school environment located in Washington Island, WI. This is a contract position focused on providing specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students, ensuring they have access to effective learning and resources.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored for visually impaired students.
- Provide specialized instruction in orientation and mobility, braille literacy, assistive technology, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and families to support student success.
- Conduct assessments and monitor progress to adjust instructional methods as needed.
- Train school personnel and parents on techniques and tools to assist visually impaired learners.
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a teacher of students with visual impairments.
- Experience working with K-12 visually impaired students.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and braille instruction.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
