The DNA Group is seeking a Senior RF Engineer / In-Building Wireless (IBW) Consultant to support public safety communications initiatives for a District agency. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) providing technical assessments, design review, testing, and implementation support for Land Mobile Radio (LMR), P25, LTE/4G/5G, and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). You will work closely with operational teams, infrastructure vendors, and agency stakeholders to ensure reliable, compliant, and interoperable public safety communications systems, including FirstNet and in-building wireless solutions.


Overview Requirements:

• Provide assessments of technical and operational practices for radio and wireless system upgrades based on leading industry standards.

• Support LMR radio systems, software, and programs, including subscriber and infrastructure components.

• Design, test, implement, and accept Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) supporting FirstNet and P25 public safety communications.

• Perform RF engineering activities including system design, coverage analysis, link budgets, antenna design, and performance testing.

• Conduct program and design reviews, requirements gathering, change management, and final system acceptance.

• Support FCC licensing activities and regulatory compliance.

• Perform testing and acceptance of DAS and radio systems infrastructure projects.

• Conduct short- and long-term planning to meet evolving public safety communications requirements.

• Perform hardware and software analysis to evaluate performance, suitability, and integration within existing environments.

• Support radio system infrastructure capital projects, including subscriber deployments and system upgrades.

• Monitor DAS performance, resolve interference issues, and investigate coverage deficiencies.

• Manage and coordinate encryption and OTAR upgrades.

• Support and complete agency radio programming requests.

• Develop radio training materials and technical usage guidelines for internal and external users.

• Develop in-building wireless (IBW) approval criteria and review IBW proposals for compliance.

• Review and update IBW guidelines and develop implementation and support requirements.

• Perform field surveys of new and existing BDA/DAS installations.

• Support day-to-day public safety radio operations.


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Extensive experience supporting public safety radio communications systems and wireless infrastructure.

• Strong knowledge of LMR, P25, LTE/4G/5G, DAS, and in-building wireless systems.

• Experience performing RF coverage modeling, drive testing, and interference analysis.

• Proven ability to work onsite and collaborate with technical, operational, and vendor teams.

• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
