Job DescriptionJob Opportunity: Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Physician

Our organization is looking for a board-certified or board-eligible physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine to join our academic faculty. This role primarily focuses on inpatient care, emphasizing critical care and pulmonary consultative services, with a minor outpatient component. This position provides a unique chance to work at a high-acuity quaternary referral center dedicated to academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inpatient Critical Care and Pulmonary Services:
    • Deliver attending-level care in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and other specialized ICUs as required.
    • Oversee the management of complex, critically ill patients, including those needing advanced ventilatory support and extracorporeal therapies.
    • Conduct inpatient pulmonary consultations for patients with complex medical conditions throughout the hospital.
    • Collaborate with subspecialty teams such as cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, transplant, and interventional services.
  • Outpatient Pulmonary Care:
    • Engage in a limited outpatient pulmonary clinic, customized to align with the physician's clinical interests and divisional requirements.
    • Assess and manage a wide array of pulmonary diseases, utilizing comprehensive diagnostic and procedural resources.
  • Academic and Teaching Responsibilities:
    • Supervise and instruct medical students, residents, and fellows in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
    • Participate in educational conferences, bedside teaching, and academic mentorship.
    • Engage in scholarly activities, quality improvement initiatives, or clinical research based on personal interests and divisional needs.
  • Team Collaboration & Leadership:
    • Work in close partnership with advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
    • Participate in divisional, departmental, and hospital committees as appropriate.
    • Contribute to departmental initiatives and quality improvement projects, enhancing quality, safety, and clinical operations within critical care and pulmonary services.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant patient records are maintained.
    • Adhere to hospital guidelines regarding billing, coding, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board certified or board eligible in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.
  • Additional certification or interest in sleep medicine is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient clinical skills with experience managing high-acuity, complex patients.
  • Demonstrated dedication to teaching and academic medicine.
