Pride Health is hiring a phlebotomist to support our client’s medical facility based in Alexandria, VA. This is a 3-month assignment (Possibility of extension or conversion) opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Position Name: Phlebotomist

Pay rate: $19/hr -$21/hr on W2(As per years of Exp)

Location: Alexandria, VA

Duration: 3-month contact with possible extension

Shift: 8am-4:30pm M-F

Job Description:

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making workflow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

Phlebotomy & Specimen Handling:

  • Performs blood draws using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Labels specimens and matches lab requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.
  • Collects and stores specimens (blood, urine, fecal) following established procedures.
  • Packages specimens for transport while maintaining temperature and integrity.

Patient Interaction & Compliance:

  • Clearly and courteously explains venipuncture and specimen collection procedures to patients.
  • Updates patient information accurately in the system.
  • Ensures 100% accuracy by cross-checking test requisitions with scripts.

Lab Maintenance & Regulations:

  • Records maintenance data and decontaminates lab equipment.
  • Understands and complies with OSHA & DEP regulations.
  • Attends annual department training sessions.

Administrative & Support Tasks:

  • Answers telephone inquiries and reads laboratory results to provide information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED 2-4 years of experience
