Senior Electrical Engineer Conventional Power Generation
The Opportunity
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:
-
Function as a project lead and technical expert, potentially with management and administrative responsibilities on assigned conventional power generation projects and teams.

Develop electrical drawing deliverables, including:
-
One-line and three-line diagrams
-
Electrical motor schematics, breaker control schematics, and wiring diagrams
-
Power cable sizing and cable schedules
-
Complex engineering calculations such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting (ETAP or SKM), arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM), protective relay settings, battery and charger sizing
-

Develop electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.

Create man-hour budgets and project schedules.

Attend on-site meetings, investigate existing conditions, interface with clients, and provide construction support.

Utilize Microsoft Office, electrical engineering software (ETAP), and CAD tools (AutoCAD) for engineering deliverables.
Location
The ideal candidate is located or willing to relocate to one of the following offices: Overland Park, KS; Cary, NC; or Ann Arbor, MI.
Key Responsibilities

Provide guidance on departmental design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes. May develop, maintain, or update engineering standards.

Ensure compliance with quality programs and promote a culture of continuous improvement, change management, and risk management.

Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale projects. Oversee data collection, analysis, and equipment/material recommendations.

Perform advanced engineering calculations and develop solutions to complex problems. Ensure proper delegation to junior team members and review their work.

Lead production teams, coordinate multi-discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for projects.

Define project schedules for single or multiple disciplines.

Identify client interests and drivers, communicate them to the project team, and ensure project delivery meets client requirements.

Serve as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering concepts to unique challenges. May act as an industry expert, participate in professional societies, or support chief engineers on complex projects.

Mentor junior and mid-level professionals, support career development, succession planning, and workforce planning.
Management Responsibilities

Supervise the work of others, including hiring, discipline, and pay administration.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
-
Minimum of 11 years of relevant work experience.
-
Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer-of-record requirements (PE License preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
-
Project lead experience and expertise in utility-scale conventional power generation design.
-
Consulting design experience in LV/MV conventional power generation (combined cycle, simple cycle plants).
-
QA/QC and project lead experience.
-
Ability to work within schedule and man-hour budgets.
-
Familiarity with NEC and IEEE/ANSI standards.

Experience with electrical equipment, including MV/LV switchgear, transformers (GSUT, UAT), panel boards, breakers, protective relays, inverters, batteries, battery chargers, disconnect switches, surge arrestors, medium voltage cable, low voltage cable, control cable, and fiber optic cable.
