Position Overview
As our Optician, you will play a key role in delivering an outstanding patient experience—from frame selection and lens education to order management and follow-up. You will also support the clinical team with pre-testing and assist with daily office operations. We are looking for someone who is professional, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoys helping patients look and see their best.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with frame and lens selection based on prescription, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences
- Take accurate measurements (PD, seg height, OC, etc.) for proper fit
- Educate patients on lens materials, coatings, treatments, and pricing
- Prepare, process, and track eyewear and contact lens orders
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding order status and follow-ups
- Adjust, fit, and repair eyewear as needed
- Perform pre-testing and assist with patient workups prior to exams
- Maintain accurate patient records in electronic systems (Crystal EMR experience a plus)
- Support front desk operations including scheduling, phone calls, insurance verification, and patient check-in
- Work collaboratively with doctors and staff to maintain smooth patient flow
What We’re Looking For
- Prior experience in a private optometry practice preferred
- Familiarity with VSP and EyeMed vision plans
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Friendly, warm demeanor with excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented
- ABO certification or Optician’s license a plus, but not required
