We are seeking a Senior UX/UI Specialist to join a high-performing team working on a critically important government platform that supports millions of people nationwide. This work plays a meaningful role in improving access, clarity, and reliability for individuals who depend on this agency’s services every day. The project is high-impact, mission-driven, and requires a thoughtful UX approach within a complex environment.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders to define goals, conduct customer discovery, and translate user needs into clear, actionable design artifacts. You will create conceptual models, journey maps, personas, prototypes, and documented design recommendations that align user expectations with system requirements.
This position requires on-site work in Woodlawn, MD, five days per week.
Responsibilities
- Derive business processes, analyze user needs, and assist in requirements definition
- Elicit business goals and user needs through stakeholder engagement and discovery sessions
- Create conceptual models, journey maps, personas, and usage scenarios
- Develop and refine screen prototypes
- Document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
- Design and conduct formative user research and usability testing in formal and informal settings
Compensation & Benefits at Mediabarn
In compliance with applicable laws, Mediabarn provides a reasonable compensation range for this role. Final compensation is based on experience, skill set, and role alignment.
Salary range: $110,000 – $130,000 annually
RequirementsRequired Qualifications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant professional experience
- Minimum of 6 years of direct interaction and interface design experience using user-centered methods and user analysis
- At least 6 years of experience documenting user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
- Minimum of 4 years of experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations to small and large groups
- At least 4 years of experience designing and conducting formative usability tests
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with customers on a daily basis
- A digital portfolio of design work is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using Axure RP and Adobe XD for prototyping
- Familiarity with Pega and or ServiceNow platforms
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments
- Understanding of responsive design principles
- Prior experience supporting federal government clients or working in a government consulting environment
- Solid understanding of Section 508 accessibility standards
- UX certifications such as NN/g UX Master Certification or General Assembly UX Design Immersive are a plus
