We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machine Shop Foreman with 5–10 years of hands-on experience in machining and supervisory roles. The Foreman will oversee day-to-day operations in the machine shop, ensuring quality production, efficient workflow, and adherence to safety standards. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supervise and coordinate activities of machine operators.
· Plan and schedule jobs to meet production deadlines and optimize machine utilization.
· Ensure all work is performed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
· Ensure clear and consistent communication between first and second shifts by documenting shift changes, job status, issues, and priorities through detailed notes, shift logs, or email updates.
· Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to operators.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
· Train and mentor team members to enhance skills, performance, and morale.
· Inspect finished parts and ensure compliance with quality control standards.
· Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and other departments to resolve production or design issues.
· Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, tools, and machine supplies, and coordinate procurement as needed.
· Maintain accurate production and personnel records, including shift reports, timekeeping, and work orders.
Qualifications:
.5–10 years of experience in a machining environment, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
· Strong knowledge of manual machining (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.).
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
· Proven experience with machining best practices, quality assurance, and process improvement.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Proficient with shop management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Associates degree in machining technology, manufacturing, or related field.
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Work Environment:
· Primarily in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, metal shavings, lubricants, and mechanical equipment.
· May require occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. and prolonged periods of standing or walking.
