Chesterbrook United Methodist Church is a welcoming environment for people of all ages and backgrounds in the McLean and surrounding communities. Our mission is to celebrate God’s grace and to share the love of Christ with each other, the community and the world.

The Education Director at Chesterbrook United Methodist Church (CUMC), under the supervision of the Senior Pastor is an opportunity to provide a major role in the faith development of the children, youth and adults. Our community is excited to work with the Education Director to reach new people in new ways through the love of Jesus Christ. Chesterbrook is moving into a newly renovated ministry space in Summer/Fall 2025 with brand new classroom space and contemporary audio-visual equipment. It is an exciting time to join this ministry!

Duties and Responsibilities
● Provide a dynamic environment to grow the Children’s Ministry (ages 2- grade 5) and the Youth Ministry (grade 6-12) and college/young adults with education team and teachers
● Prepare weekly Sunday service
○ Prepare weekly Sunday message to children and youth
○ Plan and coordinate the lesson plans for teachers
○ Set-up and close down worship space and classrooms
● Seek out and meet occasionally with students, sharing their joys and concerns, and nurturing spiritual growth
● Work closely together with the education team to plan and lead/coordinate special events such as community and congregational fellowship and outreach events
● Work with church staff to schedule, promote, and market ministry opportunities as
needed
● Provide support in adult education with the senior pastor.

Expectations
● A personal Christian faith is required. Familiarity with Wesleyan theology and an
openness to serve in the Methodist tradition is preferred.
● Part-time position (average of 20 hours per week)
● Work on Sundays as well as other times agreed upon with the Senior Pastor and Staff
Parish Relations Committee
● May occasionally require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for
communications and ministry team meetings. Schedule may vary at different times of
the year, especially Christian holidays (eg: Easter, Christmas)
● Participation in weekly staff and monthly Education Ministry Team (EMT) meetings
● Notify the Senior Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Committee prior to any unforeseen
absence from regularly scheduled hours, events or duties to ensure continuity


Compensation: Competitive Hourly + Potential Sign-on Bonus for Qualified Candidate
