We are seeking a Clothing Purchasing Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the clothing purchasing department and merchandising functions by maintaining accurate product data, ensuring timely merchandise flow, and providing high-quality administrative and communication support to internal teams and external vendors. This role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with technology, and the ability to coordinate effectively across all departments.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Utilize available technology and vendor B2B systems to streamline operations, including accessing UPC information, placing orders, and optimizing workflow efficiency.
- Maintain complete and accurate system data for all new vendors, SKU's, min/max settings, special orders, and pricing.
- Work directly with buyers to provide clerical and system support, ensuring accurate product and system information for informed purchasing decisions.
- Ensure timely delivery of merchandise by proactively communicating and following up with vendors, distribution center, and store locations.
- Research and maintain current product information, including pricing and specifications, using vendor resources, catalogs, and online platforms.
- Manage and update show specials within the system, ensuring accurate discounts, pricing, and terms are captured and communicated.
- Oversee weekly replenishment for standard merchandise to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- serve as a primary communication point for store personnel and internal departments, resolving issues related to new product lines, special orders, pricing, advertising, and delivery through phone, email, and teams.
- Other duties pertaining to the procurement of products, goods or services as assigned by area manager/director.
Requirements:
Required Knowledge and Skills: Requires excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong analytical, organizational and computer skills. Must be very proficient with Excel with a working knowledge of 10 key and word processing; ability to manage heavy data entry duties.
Required Experience: At least 2 years experience in an office, accounting, purchasing or data entry environment preferred, not required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or other analytical spreadsheet tools, inventory management, pricing and review, and freight, is required.
Required Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field; or equivalent experience preferred, not required.
Other Requirements: Must be able to spend many hours a day working at a computer, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift up to 45 lbs (most items will be less 1-5 lb range).
