OPPO US Research Center performs cutting-edge research in smartphone and wearable technologies, including but not limited to computer vision, video and image processing, delivers algorithms and products that provide a positive impact on end users’ daily interactions with technology.
We are seeking a skilled Biomedical Engineer to join our R&D team, focusing on the design, development, and testing of wearable medical devices. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional team members to create innovative devices that meet clinical and regulatory requirements and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and building in-house prototypes of wearable devices
- Evaluate and test new biocompatible materials for prototype integration
- Communicate with external vendors for new materials and components for device integration
- Hands-on wet laboratory contributions, performing basic tasks like solution preparation, pH electrode calibration and measurements,
- Data analysis and interpret device outputs
- Summarizing results and preparing presentations for regular project updates
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with microfabrication techniques and rapid prototyping, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, PVD sputtering coating, jig fabrication, etc.
- Ability to own design and fabrication process by taking concepts from sketches or CAD to functional prototypes quickly
- General understanding of scientific principles
- Familiarity with fast iteration cycles and MVP mindset
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and CorelDRAW
Preferred Qualifications:
- Wet laboratory techniques, knowledge of basic safety precautions
- Basic electronics design (baseband, low voltage) and breadboarding ability
- Understanding of material properties (plastics, metals) for prototyping use
- Past success in either academic or corporate R&D
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Willingness to learn new skills, methods and techniques
- Positive attitude

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000-$150,000 + bonus + long term incentives benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
