Position Summary:
Tutors will assist the learning specialist in providing individualized academic support, through peer tutoring, to program participants
Responsibilities:

<li>Assist students in developing competency in course work.</li>
<li>Provide one-on-one support and encouragement to help the student develop an increased sense of confidence in his or her own abilities.</li>
<li>Encourage students to become independent learners by suggesting more adequate tools of study.</li>

Student Worker - Tutor TRIO

Overview: The Learning Center Student Tutor- Des Plaines Student Employee will provide individualized content and skill-development tutoring to students (tutees). Students in this role will provide as-needed tutoring services to tutees, and are required to attend a 4-6 hour tutor training session in the fall and spring semesters. A typical day would include tutoring students on a set subject or set of subjects, on a drop-in or by appointment basis as directed.

About This Opportunity: The Youth Services Specialist assist in managing the day-to-day operations of Youth Service Programming, including the Homework Center and the Summer Youth Program. Responsible for conducting intakes, pre-assessments and internal and external referrals utilizing the CAAPS procedure.

<li>The Youth Services Specialist provide case management to youth and maintain detailed individual files.</li>
<li>Assist in the development of program and budget design and implementation.</li>
<li>Assist in the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to funders as required.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned by Director of Youth Services.</li>
<li>Attend appropriate training sessions as needed.</li>

What You Bring:

<li>Associate degree in related field or some post secondary education with tutoring experience can substitute for degree; with at least one year of experience in youth programming</li>
<li>Case management experience and experience working with youth.</li>
<li>Demonstrated program development and implementation experience.</li>
<li>Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work as part of a team.</li>
<li>Strong computer skills preferred.</li>
<li>Ability to relate to persons of varying socio-economic and racial/ethnic populations.</li>
<li>Acceptable CORI.</li>
