Summary: 
Reports directly to the Hospital Chief who is also Brown University School of Medicine Chairman Department of Radiation Oncology for clinical practice teaching research and academic affairs and to the Vice President Pharmacy and Cancer Services for administrative duties and responsibilities including but not limited to operations and personnel duties and responsibilities. Conducts and participates in strategic research and development projects which have clinical applications to radiotherapy as well as the development and maintenance of a quality assurance program for radiotherapy. Is also responsible for the acceptance and clinical implementation of new equipment. Participates in treatment planning and resolves physics aspects of treatment problems. Provides oversight for medical physics for coverage in Gamma Knife as required. Participates in teaching activities instructs and provides supervision to residents and students working on research projects. Division of workload will be approximately 50% clinical, 20% teaching, 20% research and 10% administrative. 
Responsibilities: 
Develops and recommends short and long term goals for radiation oncology in consideration of Lifespan's mission values and key business objectives.
Maintains state-of-the-art technological expertise of sophisticated equipment used to provide all treatment modalities including but not limited to IMRT, IGRT, Gamma Knife and Linac based radiosurgery, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy and radiofrequency ablation.

Calibrates accelerators and performs quality control tests on a regular basis to maintain quality of radiotherapy administered.
Teaches medical radiation physics to medical students and residents and participates in ongoing educational programs.

Interviews, hires, manages and completes performance evaluations for physicists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists staff. BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Physicist - Days

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking applications for a clinical track faculty physician. The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, on the clinical (non-tenure) track. Appointment to the rank of Instructor (non-track) may also be considered. This position is suited for dedicated and highly qualified radiation oncologists to join our team in providing exceptional clinical care in a community practice in Bettendorf, Iowa. This practice is integrated within the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center with onsite medical oncology services.
The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa provides physics support, radiation therapists, nursing, and support staff. The practice participates in weekly quality assurance chart rounds with other affiliated sites and with practitioners at our main site in Iowa City. Conferences are remotely accessible.
Equipment includes a Varian 21iX linear accelerator, a Phillips Big Bore CT scanner and the Mosaiq oncology management system. Treatment planning is conducted with the Philips Pinnacle system.
Capabilities include 3D-conformal radiotherapy, electron therapy, kV cone-beam CT, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), 4D-CT, and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) treatments.

Required:

<li>One year of customer service experience required. </li>
<li>Ability to work independently, organizing, and prioritizing concurrent responsibilities and demands. </li>

Preferred:

<li>Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) </li>
<li>Previous medical office/hospital experience coordinating physician appointments and patient services preferred </li>
<li>Familiarity with medical terminology </li>
<li>Bilingual skills </li>
<li>Prior experience utilizing an electronic medical record system and/or an automated scheduling system </li>

The hourly pay range for this position is from $23.32 to $33.20 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
