What does an Administrative Assistant do? 
<ul>
<li>Prepare all outgoing mail, packages, envelopes, and certified receipts; weighing and metering for accurate postal rates, and preparing FedEx and UPS Packages</li>
<li>Route incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail, email, fax correspondence, and vendor deliveries. Hand deliver any certified, registered, or express mail packages to staff/other offices</li>

Shipping Clerk
ROLE
We need an experienced Shipping Clerk at the Naval Dosimetry Center (NDC). The NDC serves as the Navy’s ionizing radiation dosimetry center of excellence for radiation protection programs for the Navy and Marine Corps. In this role, you will use the U.S. Postal system, FedEx system, and United Postal Service requirements in packaging and mailing traceable packages to ensure that the sets of dosimeters are accurately mailed to Navy facilities worldwide. RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Make recommendations for improvements to existing receipt and shipping techniques used at the NDC</li>
<li>Produce a list of customers that are scheduled to receive dosimeters during the current shipping week</li>
<li>Receive packages and parcels from the U.S. Postal Service for the NDC</li>
<li>Act as the customer point of contact for all shipping issues</li>
<li>Identify and record serial numbers of dosimeters before shipment</li>
<li>Identify and select dosimeters shipped to commands</li>
<li>Manage dosimeters that are rejected by the shipping machine</li>
<li>Create a computer diskette for each shipment of dosimeters that contains files necessary for customers to manage and issue the dosimeters </li>
<li>Package, wrap, and ship dosimeters promptly</li>
<li>Generate and attach mailing labels with correct command addresses</li>
<li>Maintain accurate assignment and entry of registered, certified, and express mail numbers in the U.S. Postal Service computer database</li>
<li>Ensure mailed packages include the correct number of dosimeters as listed on the shipping machine printout, a NDC address label, radiation warning labels, colored dosimeter holder stickers, computer diskette with dosimeter bar code numbers, and an identification reader inventory report</li>
<li>Operate the Harshaw Model 8800 dosimeter identification readers and shipping machines</li>
<li>Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the Harshaw 8800 machines</li>
<li>Operate the shipping computer programs that generate shipping lists, data diskettes, mailing labels, and update dosimetry databases</li>
<li>Perform monthly statistical process control and generate reports for the number of dosimeters that fail the sorting process and the reasons for the failure, dosimeters provided by processing and made available for shipping, and the number of dosimeters needed to complete the weekly shipping requirements</li>
<li>Collaborate with all of NDC's customers in a positive manner that promotes innovation and resolution of problems</li>
<li>Successfully complete the personnel qualification requirements (PQS) for shipping clerks and other PQS as deemed necessary to support the above requirements. Examinations are included as part of the PQS process</li>
</ul>
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software technologies as well as local area network systems and configurations for use in transferring raw data over a local area network</li>
<li>Knowledge of computer databases, especially Microsoft Access, shipping machine software, and ability to understand locally created data management programs</li>
<li>Knowledge of the U.S. Postal system, FedEx system, and United Postal Service requirements in packaging and mailing of traceable packages to ensure that the sets of dosimeters are accurately mailed to Navy facilities throughout the world</li>

As a Postal Clerk you will oversees the movement, sorting, and distribution of mail at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Performs a variety of detailed accounting duties in accordance with standard accounting procedures with minimal supervision and guidance.

LOCATION: McMurdo Station, Antarctica
SALARY: $756 - $859 per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Follows and applies DOD, USAF, PACAF, U.S. Postal Service (USPS), Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA), Joint Military Postal Activity-PAC (JMPA-PAC), 6005 AIRPS and PACAF AIRPS directives/policies as they pertain to the Military Postal Service (MPS), Air Force postal operations, and financial issues in the PACAF command in support of the McMurdo APO.</li>
<li>Assists customers who need help with filing USPS insurance claims.</li>
<li>Assists Postal Supervisor with preparations for official USAF quarterly audits.</li>
<li>Support of U.S. Air Force and South Pole postal activities as needed. Assists Postal Supervisor with pre-deployment training for South Pole postal supervisor.</li>
<li>Performs the duties of the Postal Supervisor in the latter position's absence.</li>
<li>Performs the sorting, receipt, and distribution of accountable and non-accountable mail at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Scans all mail on arrival and again when it is delivered or becomes Directory Service mail. Tracking information is uploaded daily on AMPS.</li>
<li>Completes all AMPS training when required by MPSA.</li>
<li>Monitors and maintains current file of bi-monthly USPS Postal Bulletins per DOD.</li>
<li>Provides a Directory Service for all misrouted mail and mail addressed to personnel no longer at McMurdo Station. Maintains a current file of forwarding cards.</li>
<li>Controls USPS and Air Force-owned non-accountable equipment.</li>
<li>Coordinates with the Movement Control Center for outgoing and incoming accountable and non-accountable mail.</li>
<li>Must be able to lift and move 75 lbs.</li>
<li>Ensures compliance with Safety, Environment, Health, and Waste Management policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Interacts with the National Science Foundation, armed forces, and other agency officials, both over the telephone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner.</li>

<li>Follows all current PACAF directives for election mail.</li>
<li>Completes and maintains all PS3849s in compliance with USPS regulations for accountable mail.</li>
<li>When needed, assists Postal Supervisor to prepare all mail for dispatch.</li>
<li>Keeps Safety Log and AF Training Log updated.</li>
<li>Performs other duties as required.</li>
