Primary Purpose

Phlebotomist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced phlebotomist to join our team. Under general supervision of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist, the candidate will perform blood collection by venipuncture and arterial puncture. Assists in preparation of specimens, operation of selected equipment and clerical duties.
Essential Job Duties

<li>Obtains blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients as requested. Techniques include arterial puncture, venipuncture and heel-stick technique.</li>
<li>Prepares blood samples for analysis in the laboratory by centrifugation.</li>
<li>Maintains venipuncture supplies as necessary and prepares a list for acquisition. Cleans the work areas related to venipuncture.</li>

<li>Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines.</li>

Position Summary:
On-call position available for our Ocean Shores Medical Clinic. The Phlebotomist will follow patient care upon completion of venipuncture. What you'll work on:

<li>Provide best in class venipuncture services on a population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics</li>

Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Present professional demeanor and appearance to donor with self introduction prior to phlebotomy. Needs to understand donor health requirements. 
2. Perform donor identification, review of records and arm/vein selection for phlebotomy (with use of appropriate gauge needles including removal and disposal) according to DCOPs. 
3. Perform Haemonetics Autopheresis setup and programming with understanding of alarm signals during operation, shut down, and in the event of power failure.
