Position Summary
Provides occupational therapy services to patients needing to develop, recover and maintain occupational skills.
Reports to: Occupational Therapy Lead and Rehab Services Director
Responsibilities of the Position
Areas of Responsibility: Outpatient, In-patient, &amp; Acute Occupational Therapy. Position floats to support all three disciplines.
Completes evaluations, treatments, and discharges for patients in an outpatient rehab setting.
Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team of providers to provide optimal patient care across a variety of diagnoses.
Provides quality and timely documentation reflecting medical necessity and patient progression towards goals.
Coverage of acute/inpatient rehab as needed.
Submission of insurance prior authorizations as required.
Independently manages busy caseload, asking for assistance and direction when needed.
Works with Lead Occupational Therapist for development of weekend, holiday, and vacation schedule. Coverage to be provided as determined by Lead Occupational Therapist.
Works alongside other rehab staff (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathologists, Athletic Trainers, Rehab Techs, and front office staff) to ensure patient treatments are completed and other departmental, hospital and patient needs are met.
Participates in departmental and hospital wide Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives.
Participates in monthly discipline and departmental meetings.
Ensures compliance with licensing requirements, continuing education, and documentation requirements (including CMS, Joint Commission, Medicaid, etc.)
Other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Certifications/Licenses
North Carolina Occupational Therapist License is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Health Association required within 30 dates of hire.

POSITION SUMMARY The Occupational Therapist is responsible for organizing and conducting occupational therapy interventions in the organization to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part. The Occupational Therapist shall be responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of the full scope of Occupational Therapy services. The Occupational Therapist will provide the highest quality healthcare with compassion, patient centric vision, knowledge of current and emerging techniques and technologies, and cost effectiveness. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training: Licensed by the State of Tennessee. Graduate of an approved school of Occupational Therapy Workplace Experience: Patient Care Delivery Equipment and Skills Training: Standard patient care equipment for services provided. The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic Occupational Therapy knowledge to a variety of settings. Equipment: Network Computer System, AT&amp;T Language line. Physical Environment: May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases. May be exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases. May work with combative patients. Will be expected, as directed by supervisor, to provide services for any area in the hospital in which the employee demonstrates competency. Physical Effort:

<li>Develops and establishes treatment plans based on standards of practice using an interdisciplinary approach with patients, families, and staff.</li>
<li>Demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices consistent with standards established by the American Occupational Therapy Association.</li>
<li>Progresses patients through levels of treatment effectively and safely to maximize patients' outcomes.</li>
<li>Performs patient and family discharge planning including provision of accurate and pertinent education, establishment of home exercise programs, and submission of appropriate discharge recommendations.</li>
<li>Consults with other staff members to coordinate physical therapy services.</li>
<li>Participates in the orientation and skill development of new team members.</li>
<li>Performs timely, thorough, and complete documentation of patients' care.</li>
<li>Maintains work areas and personal appearance in a way that reflects professionalism and demonstrates cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.</li>
<li>Provides direction and guidance to students and technicians.</li>
<li>Participates in activities that improve department effectiveness, processes, communication, and/or image in the organization.</li>
<li>Manages time and caseloads effectively.</li>
