The University's new VCSA will partner with the Chancellor to shape the future for a strong and valued Student Affairs program. In support of the vision and mission of the University, the VCSA will lead a team to work effectively with students, both individually and by supporting student government, student organizations and clubs.
The successful candidate will be a talented and visionary individual who can work to develop innovative strategies in collaboration with academic and administrative departments to support and enhance student success. A master’s degree from an accredited institution is required, with a doctoral degree preferred. Also required is a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant and progressive senior-level administrative and leadership experience in higher education. The strongest candidates will also have demonstrated success in carrying out the responsibilities of a higher education administrator including personnel supervision, fiscal management, and external relations.
Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is a key leadership position responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of student affairs at the university. This role focuses on enhancing the overall student experience, fostering a supportive and inclusive campus community, and promoting student success and well-being. The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs works collaboratively with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners, to develop and implement programs, services, and policies that meet the diverse needs of the student population.
The VCSA provides leadership for a variety of student support departments. The Student Affairs division is responsible for the traditional auxiliary units of a college campus, including University Housing, Dining Services, University Center (containing the bookstore and a textbook rental program), and Campus Recreation. Areas of responsibility for the student development support departments include: Dean of Students Office; Health Service; Counseling Services; Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub; an Early Childhood Center (an accredited daycare facility for children ages 2-5); and Career Development Center.
Poised at a moment of opportunity, the next VCSA will provide innovative, forward-thinking vision that leverages the commitment of student affairs units and university leadership to move SIUE student affairs into alignment with their peers. POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Education Director, the Head Teacher develops and implements individual educational plans for children, which help them to develop socially, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their stage of development. The Teacher works collaboratively with the Teacher Assistant and aid/or volunteers.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Brooklyn Kindergarten Society (BKS) is the original “born in Brooklyn.” We were founded in 1891, and for 130 years, BKS has helped provide high-quality early childhood education to working families. We provide full day, year-round academic experiences and care for children ages 2-5 years old. Our curriculum is play based and marries together reading, writing, movement and music, with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning. JOB PURPOSE
The Early Childhood Education Director will work to ensure implementation of the Creative Curriculum model by teachers throughout the school, as well as monitor all staff to maintain compliance with company policies and state regulations. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: day to day center operations, including scheduling, classroom observations, staff training and development, curriculum development, implementation and assessment. The Director is expected to maintain all regulations consistent with NYC DOH licensing regulations and Article 47.

<li>Establish efficient record-keeping processes, including health logs, required DOHMH and DOE paperwork, family communication documents</li>
<li>Spearhead staff accountability for promoting and ensuring child health and safety across all aspects of center-based programming</li>
<li>Responsible for dealing with Dept. of Education and Dept. of Health (walk throughs, meetings, permits, renewals, budgets, etc.)</li>
<li>Responsible for attending monthly DASPC meetings; planning meetings with family service members and running reports to report to DASPC members</li>
<li>Monitor food log and weekly menus in conjunction with Cook and Assistant Cook</li>
<li>Assign daily work to Custodian</li>
<li>Responsible for NYCHA ticket process for any repairs needed in the center, eventually training Custodian to take on responsibility</li>
<li>Entering information into any DOE/BKS based systems</li>
</ul>
JOB REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>NYS Professional ECE Certification B-2, Valid NYS Permanent Certification B-2 or N- 6, Professional or Permanent Childhood Education (1-6), Prekindergarten-Grade 6 (P-6)</li>
<li>2 years of experience working with kids under the age of 6</li>
<li>Master’s in Early Childhood Education or related field</li>
<li>Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and any and all external systems related to DOE, NYCHA and DOHMH systems</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience with at least 10 direct reports</li>
<li>2.5 minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA</li>
<li>Experience working with low income populations and diverse cultures.</li>
