Communication and Patient Care
1. Acquaints all new patients with office procedures to which they will be exposed. 
2. Informs patients of the purpose of all tests personally performed and how the patient will be affected during the tests.
3. Obtains patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications.
4. Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks to include:

<li> Evaluation of motility</li>

Responsibilities: 1. Patient Screening and Pre-Testing:    - Perform comprehensive pre-testing procedures, including visual acuity, tonometry, and refraction.    - Record patient medical history and relevant information.    - Follow ophthalmologist from the medical clinic to the surgery center.
2. Diagnostic Testing:    - Conduct various diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, OCT, and topography.    - Assist in administering ophthalmic imaging tests and interpret results.
3. Assist with Clinical Procedures:    - Prepare patients for examinations and assist ophthalmologists during clinical procedures.    - Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the physician.

5. Patient Education:    - Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions.    - Answer patient queries and provide support as needed.
6. Documentation and Record Keeping:    - Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.    - Input data into electronic health records (EHR) system.
7. Collaboration and Communication:    - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.    - Communicate effectively with the ophthalmology team and support staff.
Requirements:
1. Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or equivalent certification required. 2. Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ophthalmology technician. 3. Proficiency in conducting various diagnostic tests and interpreting results. 4. Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, diseases, and treatment procedures. 5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. 7. We are an established multi-specialty Ophthalmology group looking for an experienced bi-lingual Ophthalmic Technician. Technicians must be compassionate, detail-oriented team players with great people skills and a desire to grow in a friendly practice. As the Ophthalmic Technician your primary job function is to work with the ophthalmologist to provide exceptional patient care by gathering all patient information necessary to complete a proper diagnosis. You will perform the initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures as well as assist the physician as directed. Your top priority will be to ensure the patient receives the highest level of care as our main goal is to make the patient experience as exemplary as possible. 
Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li> Interview patients and document ocular and medical histories</li>
<li> Perform preliminary testing ie: visual acuity, pupillary responses, confrontation visual fields, motility, stereopsis, color vision, angle assessment, refractometry and applanation tonometry.</li>
<li> Perform diagnostic testing including automated perimetry, OCT, A&amp;B scans, optical biometry and ophthalmic photography, fluorescein angiography, corneal topography and keratometry</li>
<li> Assist in minor surgery procedures, laser surgery, laser refractive surgery and crosslinking</li>
<li> Monitor and facilitate patient flow in the clinic and in the imaging rooms, working collaboratively with other clinical staff. </li>
<li> Administer eye drops as required by the physician. (Certification Required) </li>
<li> EMR scribing </li>
<li> Perform clinical and administrative duties as directed </li>
</ul>
Schedule: Full time/ Two locations - Mon, Tues &amp; Friday at Nazareth Hospital and Thursday at Plymouth Meeting- 7 to -5:30

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

FORMAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
An Ophthalmic Technician is a valuable asset to an Ophthalmologist as they assist in providing excellent patient care to the patients during their visit. This employee is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Ophthalmologist. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone)</li>
<li>Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave</li>
<li>Practice urgency at all times with patient's time, as well as doctor's time and schedule</li>
<li>Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA</li>
<li>Verify patient information by interviewing patient</li>
<li>Recording medical history, current medications and confirming purpose of visit</li>
<li>Records all data in the patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR)</li>
<li>Checks condition of patient's eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements</li>
<li>Required skills include: dilation, refraction, pressures, and performing a variety of diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography</li>
