The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a pivotal healthcare professional who provides essential support to medical staff and delivers exceptional patient care. The primary responsibilities of the CMA include assisting physicians and nurses in a clinical setting, managing patient information, and performing various clinical and administrative tasks. CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

<li>Will be required to work within a correctional facility.</li>
<li>Administer medications and record daily medication to patients in state- approved facilities and completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by state law. </li>
<li>Order stock medication on an as-needed basis, not to exceed established maximum inventory levels.</li>
<li>Reconcile daily medications received from pharmacy against faxed order form.</li>
<li>Distribute ordered medications to their appropriate storage area ensuring all stock medications are rotated, and all outdated medications are returned to the pharmacy.</li>
<li>Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care. Observe patients and document changes in their condition.</li>
<li>Notify pharmacy of incarcerated individuals transfers or release.</li>
<li>Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently.</li>
<li>Follows federal, state, and agency regulations to protect health and that of others.</li>
<li>Adhere to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures.</li>
<li>Gather samples for analysis.</li>
<li>Respond to emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify needs and report back to the nursing/HCP team for guidance.</li>
<li>Proficient with CPR and recognizes need to implement. Receive re-certification training annually.</li>
<li>Assist in cleaning, sterilizing, and securing of equipment. Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.</li>

Position Summary
As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.
Reports to: Practice Manager
Responsibilities of the Position
Interview patients and document basic medical history.
Organize and schedule appointments.
Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
Check with patients and type up patient’s charts.
Assist during medical examinations/draw up injections and medications.
Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms.
Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records.
Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
Other tasks and duties as assigned.
 
Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required.
Certifications
Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification though the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
Required Skills
Proven working experience as a medical assistant or license practical nurse.
Knowledge of medical office/license practical nurse management systems and procedures.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and priorities work.
Social perceptiveness and service oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
