These positions will respond with a Qualified Mental Health Professional to 9-8-8 calls and provide mental health consultation to individuals/families in the community who are needing some extra support. Building rapport with the individuals in service as well as community partners and referring to resources in our community is a large part of these positions.  The Addiction Recovery Mentors will provide mentoring services and supports across a wide variety of settings while collaborating with a larger team to ensure individuals receive quality services.  
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Assists and supports persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refers persons served to appropriate resources; advocates to obtain required services as necessary; provides information and education on wellness-related issues.   SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general direction of a clinical supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.   SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following
<ul>
<li>The incumbent in this position upholds confidentiality rules/regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. </li>
<li>Services may be delivered in person or via telehealth; services may be delivered in the following locations, but not limited to office or in the community including settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services (e.g., PCC, schools, hospitals, jail, courtroom, residences including transitional treatment bed). </li>
<li>The incumbent performs all the following using a person-centered, strengths-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and ethically guided approach.</li>
<li>This position is stationed and dispatched from the Psychiatric Crisis Center.</li>
<li>Builds rapport with persons served. Identifies the needs of persons served and their families.</li>
<li>Conducts outreach to engage persons who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports.</li>
<li>Assists persons served in reestablishing awareness of internal resources such as intelligence, competence, goal setting, and problem-solving abilities.</li>
<li>identifies health and safety risks to self or others and applies crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation skills.</li>
<li>Renders mentoring services and supports both in the office and in community settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services and supports.</li>
<li>Works within a team and collaborates with coworkers and community partners.</li>
<li>Assists persons served in accessing the resources they need to recover from substance abuse problems.</li>
<li>Provides case management and care coordination services.</li>
<li>Assists in making timely referrals to other professionals, agencies, community programs, or appropriate resources and evaluates outcome of referrals.</li>
<li>Assists in removing barriers to success.</li>
<li>Assists in transporting persons served to medical appointments, food pantry sites, shelter assistance, benefits programs, etc. </li>
<li>Creates and maintains positive relationships with community partners.</li>
<li>Advocates on behalf of persons served and in support of resource development.</li>
<li>Provide outreach and engagement in partnership with peace officers and corrections professionals</li>
<li>Determine and address immediate/crisis needs at the point of contact with peace officers and thereafter.</li>
<li>Ensure the safety and stability of persons served; identify when there is a need for professional substance use disorders and/or mental health assessment by a qualified professional</li>
<li>Assist with intake procedures; gather information relevant to demographic, substance use/legal/incarceration history, physical and mental health, housing, and employment.</li>
<li>Prepare and update case management plans.</li>
<li>Provide referral/case management/follow-up supports to assist persons served in acquiring benefits and services.</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain confidential records.</li>
<li>Monitor progress and collaborate with community partners</li>
<li>Provide transportation and accompany persons served as they access services and supports (e.g., medical and addiction mental health treatment appointments, legal hearings, housing tours, DMV, etc.).</li>
<li>Attempt to locate persons served who are homeless for the purpose of engagement and support and input information into a web-based system in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Timely documents services rendered in a professional, clear, accurate, and complete manner and in accordance with timelines set forth in policy.</li>
<li>Participates in team meetings and supervision.</li>
<li>Receives constructive feedback in an open manner.</li>
<li>Incorporates work quality improvements under the coaching of the supervisor.</li>
<li>Provides back up to PCC by answering phones via logging into TouchPoint.</li>
<li>Other job duties as assigned by your supervisor.</li>
</ul>
Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Operates a motor vehicle; assist in transportation of individuals in the community; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; operates a keyboard; climbs 1 floor of stairs; lifts, pushes, pulls and carries up to 5 lbs.; moves carts weighing up to 10 lbs.; speaks with a clear and audible voice; reads a 12 pt. font; hears a normal level of speech; may work in areas exposed to heat, cold, humidity, and noise.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.  Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.  Questions about your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or the US Department of Education.
