The Successful Candidate

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

<li>A minimum of a bachelor's degree in the subject discipline is required. A teaching credential and/or a Master's degree in the subject discipline is preferred.</li>
<li>Prior teaching experience, especially in a Catholic educational setting, is preferred; however, relevant experience in the field is also strongly considered.</li>

Requirements
Job requirements:

<li>Previous tutoring/teaching experience highly preferred</li>
<li>Previous experience with special education, accommodations, and working with students with learning disabilities highly preferred</li>
<li>Bachelor's degree</li>
<li>Must be comfortable teaching statistics</li>
<li>Ability to make learning fun and interactive, with the focus of the tutoring often determined by student questions and comments</li>
<li>Ability to pass a background check if required</li>
<li>This is a contract job, with opportunities for additional tutoring/virtual instruction thereafter. Tutors and teachers on our platform systematically receive opportunities as they come in based on experience, subjects offered, availability, etc.</li>

Statistics Tutor - Special Education (Remote)

Organization &amp; Internship Background
The Arroyo Seco Saints, a certified 501(c)3 non-profit organization, attracts elite college baseball players, coaches, and college students seeking to gain experience in the sports industry to the greater Los Angeles area for the months of June and July. A proud member of the California Collegiate League and entering its 19th season of operation, the Saints strive to provide the finest collegiate summer baseball experience in the nation.
Learn by doing! Data and Statistics Interns will be key players in advancing our mission. You will spend the summer gaining valuable experience in the sports industry, building your resume and career portfolio, and learning through mentoring, networking, and training.
Data Analytics &amp; Statistics Intern Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Be the official scorer of all Home Games, and some Road Games as necessary.</li>
<li>Statistics tracking as needed for coaches and staff.</li>
<li>Create assessments, generate reports, and prepare other analytic tools to be used by Coaches and Staff.</li>
<li>Produce hitting and pitching charts for each game.</li>
<li>Setup and Operate the TrackMan system at every Home Game and tag the appropriate data as assigned.</li>
<li>Oversee Synergy (video and analytics system) throughout the season to include set up of cameras, monitoring camera angles during game, take down of cameras upon completion of the game, and uploading of video footage.</li>
<li>Communicate with Social Media Team to report on any hot streaks, broken records, or other important information.</li>
<li>Create an independent research project of your choice, from preparation, data collection, study and analysis, implementation and finally, potential publication (subject to approval).</li>
<li>Report to General Manager for special projects throughout the season</li>

Requirements
<ul>
<li>MUST HAVE: Experience using TrackMan at your College or University, or in another setting.</li>
<li>MUST HAVE: Experience with Microsoft Excel and data processing formulas.</li>
<li>NICE TO HAVE: Familiarity with Synergy, and use within a College or Professional Baseball setting.</li>
<li>NICE TO HAVE: Familiarity with programming in either R or Python, competency in SQL data queries, an understanding of XML and JSON data, and experience with remote FTP servers and SSL protocols.</li>
<li>NICE TO HAVE: Experience building and interpreting predictive models preferred.</li>
<li>A strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and/or engineering.</li>
<li>Pursuing or completed an undergraduate degree in a related major.</li>
<li>Represent the Arroyo Seco Saints by exhibiting a high level of professionalism at all times.</li>
<li>A team player with a get it done work ethic and an upbeat and friendly attitude.</li>
<li>Ability to manage multiple projects at once and complete assigned tasks on schedule.</li>
<li>Posses a strong attention to detail.</li>
<li>Be willing to go 50 feet extra. Don't try to be done 6 inches short.</li>
<li>Work proactively and possess strong problem-solving skills</li>
<li>Excellent organizational skills. Self-motivated and detail oriented.</li>
<li>Comfortable working in groups. Interact with Saints front office members, coaches, players, staff, and staff from opposing organizations, the California Collegiate League, and more.</li>
<li>Knowledge of baseball rules required.</li>
</ul>
Time Commitments
The Saints college summer season runs Late May to early August. Games will be played approximately five days a week. All intern staff will be required to participate (in-person or by conference call) in an introductory meeting in mid-May. The internship ends approximate 1-week after the conclusion of the season. Being able to start remote work pre-season is preferred.

<li>This position is intended to receive college credit, applicants who do not need credit are still welcome!</li>
<li>Hours will vary. Gamedays are typically 1:00-10:00 p.m. for home games. Away game and non-game days will differ in hours and responsibilities.</li>
<li>Must be available for the whole season, and, at a minimum, all Home Games (which include weeknights, weekends and some holidays).</li>
<li>Flexibility is key to being successful in the professional sports realm.</li>
</ul>
