What YOU Will Do

Who YOU Are

Data abstraction also includes extracting key data elements into the Patient's EHR to capture a comprehensive overview of the medical history prior to the Provider visit. The Clinical Data Abstractor will adhere to HIPAA requirements and ensure the tasks are completed accurately and within the agreed upon turnaround time, This role will play an integral part in meeting and optimally exceeding client expectations which advances Datavant's presence in the marketplace as an industry leader. Ideally seeking a person having a strong medical knowledge and ability to navigate the medical record to obtain the information needed.
What You Will Do: 
<ul>
<li>Abstract key clinical data from the Medical Record into the Patient's EHR and/or the Provider section of the Medical form as requested</li>
<li>Adhere to comprehensive abstraction process guidelines for assigned projects</li>
<li>Maintain 95% accuracy rate and meet productivity levels based on project</li>
<li>Attend Datavant education meetings, training and in-services as required</li>
<li>Demonstrate initiative and judgement in performance of job responsibilities and decision making</li>
<li>Communicate with co-workers, management and hospital staff regarding clinical data abstraction issues</li>
<li>Function in a professional, efficient and positive manner</li>
<li>Customer service focused and exhibit flexibility, dependability and desire to learn</li>
</ul>
What You Need to Succeed:
<ul>
<li>Previous experience with electronic medical records such as Epic, Cerner, NextGen, Centricity, etc.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively in the English language</li>
<li>Strong Organizational and teamwork skills</li>
<li>Strong Computer software experience: general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel</li>
<li>One or more of the following:
<ul>
<li>Associate degree from AHIMA-accredited HIM program or accredited Nursing program </li>
<li>Certificate from a Medical Assistant, Medical Transcriptionist, Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse, or Medical Scribe program </li>
<li>At least one of the following applicable credentials: MA, CMSS, CMT, LPN/LVN, RN, CPC, CCA, CCS, RHIT, and/or RHIA </li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>At least one (1) year of clinical experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting or medical records department</li>
<li>Passing grade in the Annual Introductory HIPAA examination (Testing to be given annually in accordance with employee review)</li>
</ul>
What Helps You Stand Out:

<li>Previous experience completing FMLA and/or Disability forms</li>
<li>Strong understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with ICD-10 coding</li>

Pay ranges for this job title may differ based on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role. 
The estimated base pay range per hour for this role is:$24—$28 USD
