Member Services Specialist -Rancho Bernardo Branch

Job DescriptionSalary: DOE 
Child and Family Guidance Center is seeking a client centeredHealth Services Specialist at our Waxahachie clinic office. The Health Services Specialist is a front-line administrative position at a Child and Family Guidance Center clinic. HSS are responsible for providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality. HSS provides administrative support for our clinics, management and clinicians.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Performs new patient registration, updates patient information, enters data entry of demographics, and any other required information.</li>
<li>Verifies insurance benefit coverage to include co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance. Ensures accurate activations of plans and programs and records special notations in patient account software; assists patient with registration. To be completed at patient check in or prior to patient appointment.</li>
<li>Conducts eligibility screening on patients for various programs available through the Center, including predetermination. Refers patients who do not have insurance coverage to QMHP for assistance with application completion for special funded programs. Performs follow-up eligibility process to include contacting patient for additional information and contacting the funding source for eligibility status.</li>
<li>Prepares for the next day clinic session to include reviewing and confirming appointments, noting alerts for payments and balances, obtaining current insurance information, obtaining referrals updating proof of income, pre-registering patients, and screening patients for program eligibility.</li>
<li>Processes patient payments and ensures payments are applied correctly in patient accounts.</li>
<li>Regularly monitors and ensures assigned providers' schedules are filled at capacity via walk-ins and call reminders to members with next day appointments by 10:00 AM daily.</li>
<li>Oversees the general waiting area, by ensuring member check-in process is efficient, and reporting problems or irregularities to appropriate authorities.</li>
<li>Performs patient dismissal to include scheduling of follow up appointments and collects remainder of patient portion of current charges.</li>
<li>Oversees clinic nightly closure to ensure all patients have been dismissed from building. HSS remains on site until last patient is dismissed.</li>
<li>Obtains and records patient vitals in electronic health records system.</li>
<li>Processing of medical records requests.</li>
<li>Ensures the protection and security of a consumers personal, confidential and identifiable information in a professional and responsible manner, according to the standards and requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).</li>

<li>Perform job responsibilities without violating ethical, state or federal codes</li>
<li>Must be willing to work other clinic locations, as needed</li>

Minimum Requirements:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li>
<li>Minimum two years' experience in medical, hospital or clinic setting.</li>
<li>Knowledge of insurance verification and patient registration processes.</li>
<li>Knowledge of office equipment- facsimile, scanner and phone system.</li>
<li>Bilingual preferred</li>
</ul>
 
Physical Demands:

<li>Must be able to lift 50 pounds.</li>
